Biography
Toshinobu Onosato (1912-1986) was a Japanese artist born in Nagano. He learned oil painting at Atelier Tsuda Seifu and established Kokushoku Youga Ten in 1935. In 1938, he became a member of Jiyu Bijutsuka Kyokai until he left in 1956, after which he became an independent artist. During World War II, he was drafted and became a prisoner of war in Siberia until his release in 1948. He continued to create art upon returning to Japan, specializing in circle paintings and prints at his atelier in Kiryu.
